Family

Personality & Traits

General Overview Amvent is efficient in form and speech. He is capable of great rapport with others and can be quite charismatic, though he finds little truly appealing in most company. It would be unfair to call him a sociopath, but owing to the particular imbalances of his hybrid physiology he does not experience a great deal of empathy. In spite of this, he has an almost pathological need to be useful to his colleagues, both as a point of pride and a position of power.

Though he believes in the Federation and it's ideals, he can be Machiavellian in the pursuit of goals, and will bend the rules when necessary. All else is secondary to his goals. He is tireless and resourceful, and quite suited to the Intelligence lifestyle.

He employs aspects of Surak's philosphy to help with the maintenance of his emotions, but does not consider himself logical. Though he understands the reality of the biology, he does not consider himself Vulcan, identifying as a Betazoid, for no other reason than his upbringing.

Though he works hard, he will also play hard when time allows.

The unpredictable nature of his emotional state requires him to receive regular checks and take medication to manage emotional imbalances that can occur from time to time.
Strengths & Weaknesses Amvent is efficient and ruthless, and will not rest until his task is done. He is a confident and charming communicator, able to form networks of connections quickly. He knows how to bring the best and worst out of people.

He is hard working to the point of unhealthiness. As a rule he has little general interest in others, owing largely to the separation required for an Intelligence officer to function at their best.

Requires mood medication irregularly to prevent harmful manic periods. His understanding and sympathy for others is often limited, both by choice and by biological disadvantage.
Ambitions Amvent has already achieved his primary goal of becoming a Chief of Intelligence before the age of twenty five. He has no ambitions for command, believing that he has already attained significant success to build a worthwhile career and support base on. He hopes to take his career in any direction his skills and connections will take him. He has been wooed by Section 31 in the past, but declined their advances.
Hobbies & Interests Amvent reads voluminously, and takes great pride in his physical state. He will exercise often, and at times excessively. As an Intelligence Officer he considers it his constant duty to learn everything about everyone around him.

He has great enjoyment for music, particularly Bajoran and Human artists and styles. His favorite holoprograms are extreme sports and disaster survival scenarios.

Personal History Amvent was born in unaffiliated space on the more quiet and empty side of Federation territory. His parents were settlers on a world founded by a Federation seperatist group, hoping to live simply and peacefully without the restrictions and complications of the Federation.

His mother was a secretary for a local Doctor, and his father a banker. Though his mother was a Betazoid born on Betazed, his father Talok was only half Betazoid, being himself half Vulcan. Though his conception and birth was natural and uncomplicated, as a result of his biology he was diagnosed with the potential for manic behavior that could be managed with medication. His father taught him many Vulcan techniques for managing his emotions and mental state, many of which he still uses. He is primarily Betazoid physically, though heightened hearing is the sole Vulcan advantage he has received.

His father was killed in a robbery when Amvent was eight, leaving his family almost destitute. His mother struggled to raise four children on a world without social security or similar support structures, though Amvent, being the oldest, did everything he could to help his mother and protect his siblings.

Amvent became heavily involved in criminal activity as he became a teenager, running a variety of scams and deceptions with many of the colony's disadvantaged children.

In spite of his criminal dealings, he also excelled academically, hoping to apply for a position in Starfleet Academy to escape his home, and allow him to support his family.

After his graduation from school, he applied to Starfleet, but was initially rejected. Amvent spent a dark year travelling around the Federation, despondent and seeking any sort of fulfillment he could find. He spent time in the employ of an Orion Captain, though the specifics of this time are not a matter of public record.

During his time in the service of the Orion he encountered a Starfleet Officer undercover. Impressed by the young man, he promised him a reference to Starfleet Academy if he could help him to fulfill his mission of identifying Orion collaborators within the Federation.

He was able to apply again the next year, and was successful, entering into the Academy in the Intelligence Branch. After graduating with honors, Amvent was assigned as an Ensign to the USS Invincible. Aboard the Defiant class ship he was able to quickly prove his worth and expand his abilities on the small ship, becoming invaluable to his Captain and the rest of the crew. He was quickly promoted to Assistant Chief, and after a year he replaced the Chief Intelligence Officer. At the conclusion of the Invincible's tour he was reassigned to the USS Phlox, a medical frigate offering aide to Romulan space. During this time he was involved in a number of classified operations within Romulan territory.

When a post came up in the Gamma Quadrant, Amvent applied immediately for Starbase 51.
