Welcome to the 25ᵗʰ Century.

DS13

Deep Space 13, known to locals as Port Dreizhen, was once merely an imitation Federation station built to exact perfection as a Romulan training facility. Now it is the guardian of a gateway to the multiverse, an anomaly that links to alternative universes for around a week at a time.

The station has been surrendered with its entire star system to the Federation as part of the ongoing Romulan collapse. Starfleet has now established a fully operational crew of almost 10,000, with almost as many civilians from across the Galaxy, and burgeoning colonies settling on the desert world Dreizhen III.

DS13 is two weeks from Federation space at high warp and is officially the furthest outpost into the region approaching the galactic core and Beta-Delta Quadrant border. Starfleet Command has it listed as a tactical priority, even if the fastest slipstream ships can be there in three days.

What was once a curiosity converted into a maintenance facility is now a fully operating frontline defensive and exploratory installation, with crew from half a dozen realities aboard.

It is 2402. The Federation celebrates the passing of the last dark years of the 24th century, and the peace that those sacrifices have brought.

It is a new century, and Deep Space 13 is the Federation’s newest and strangest asset. It will be the last port of call before the deepest unexplored space, in an idyllic star system full of ancient mysteries.

Deep Space 13 is a Star Trek text-based RPG or 'Sim'. If you don't know what that is but want to, read this. In short, together we will write the crew of Deep Space 13 as they collaborate to further the Federation's mission of peaceful cooperation and exploration.

Our story is set in and from the perspective of the Star Trek universe, but through the interdimensional anomaly, we will explore the multiverse and encounter familiar and unfamiliar universes and their inhabitants.

The anomaly can take us to the sands of Arrakis, the lurid plains of Zharr-Naggrund or the ruins of Ravenholme, the only limitation is our imaginations.

» Mission Close and another Milestone

Posted on Mon Jul 28th, 2025 @ 12:52pm by Captain Rovak in General News

The sun has set on she who knew thee not, o Aten. But as for him he knows thee, he shines!

After what may be our most eventful mission so far, and definitely our biggest, we now draw The Serpent's Tooth to a close. While there are a few posts yet to go from within the mission's timeline, we can get to and finish those as we please. While this mission is done, with two colonies of Jaffa and Goa'uld settled on Dreizhen III (and a few other surprises lurking around that our eagle-eyed readers will have spotted), we can guarantee we haven't heard the last of them.

We now enter a month-long (OOC and IC) shoreleave between this mission and the next. There's no obligation to post during this period, unless you feel like expanding on character subplots or joining any of the other activities going on, the most prominent of which is the flight to Earth aboard the Swiftsure, and the arrival of new diplomatic parties aboard DS13. If you do feel like doing something else and don't have anything to do, feel free to reach out to myself, Dwina or Lucy and we can help you put something together.

I'll also be sending out a survey in the next couple of days. It is of course not mandatory, but it's to help me understand how to better build missions and the game more broadly around you as players, and to let me know what you like, what you don't, and how you think things could change. Don't be afraid to be as honest as you can, I can assure you I don't mind, and I seek out honest feedback so I can improve and make the game the best it can be.

It is also my happy pleasure to mark 6 months since Sam/Ob joined us with the unconventional Cardassian Nimah, and the mysterious Toa Mana'i. Thank you for everything so far, and I look forward to our continued adventures!

» A celebration and a new arrival

Posted on Sun Jun 22nd, 2025 @ 1:04pm by Captain Rovak in General News

Hello all, I hope this finds you well.

I'm happy to report a couple of developments behind the scenes.

Firstly, we've recently marked six months since Tom joined us as our shrewd Vulcan Medical Chief S'Lace, our thanks to Tom for the adventures so far, and all those to come.

Secondly, you'll see on the manifest we have a new player among us! We're delighted to re-welcome Nessa who has written with us on Starbase 50 and USS Mercury. We're thrilled to have her back with us as the fearless and gentle Deltan Counselor Yy (pronunciation found her in bio), who will be joining the crew after the current mission.

With Ness that takes us up to nine players once more!

With The Serpent's Tooth coming soon to a close, once this mission concludes the sim will go into a one-month shoreleave period between missions. After that we will head into our fourth mission UnderMind, where we explore the colonies of Dreizhen III and a Klingon distress signal coming from deep space.

Until then, thanks for playing!

» Happy birthday, DS13!

Posted on Wed Jun 11th, 2025 @ 10:10am by Captain Rovak in General News

Hello again all,

It's once again my happy privilege to mark a milestone, in this case it's 12 months to the day that Deep Space 13 began.

In that time, we've battled Daleks, Goa'uld, and unnamable horrors from beyond, while continuing the ongoing mission of exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and bravely going where no-one has gone before.

To all crew past and present, you have my sincere thanks for being a part of this adventure, and I can't wait to see what the next twelve months holds.

To all and sundry, cheers!

» 6 whole months of Jang!

Posted on Mon Jun 9th, 2025 @ 2:20pm by Captain Rovak in General News

Hello all,

It's my happy privilege to congratulate Jangus on 6 months aboard DS13.

I'm loving the ongoing adventure of Volsunga's integration, as well as Gaz and his persistent grumbling efficiency.

As someone who's written among us through several sims now, please accept my heartfelt thanks for being a part of the game and the team.

It's been pointed out to me that I failed to notice the 6-month milestone has also been crossed by our delightful AGM and resident Science Officer Lucy!

My sincere thanks for all your contributions so far, I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing more of Atna, Intharia and Kloh'theQ!

The Hercules didn’t return to port alone. With her came the familiar Swiftsure, the massive Odyssey-class Mesakh, and the sleek Sagan, first of her line.

Rovak realised mid-journey they commanded a not-insignificant portion of Starfleet’s slipstream fleet, the Hercules’ prototype refit making her number thirty-three of their ultrafast number. Between…
