The lives and histories of those involved with DS13 before the Federation took over the station in June 2402.

The Fawkes Caper - (2388-2390)

The misadventures of a freighter crew inherited by a former Starfleet enlisted, who along with some friends and taggers-along of dubious quality, seeks to run a legitimate freight operation to pay back outrageous debts owed to the Ferengi for the vessel. Together they evade criminal and intelligence forces who seek a secret cargo somewhere within the recently refurbished Cardassian freighter.

Fawkes is recorded to have left DS9 out of impound in 2388, a few months after Hobus. It was returned to Starfleet impound in 2390.

Starbase 51 (2395-2397)

Starfleet's first station in the Gamma Quadrant, arranged at the request of the Dominion with the aim of normalising relations and offering relief to DS9 as the premiere waystation on the other side of the Bajoran wormhole.

Commanded by the would-be Ambassador Oriath Velt, his wife the actual Ambassador Tyell Orliss, and their first officer Rovak, a tactically trained XO more accustomed to close-quarters combat than diplomacy.
