The Serpent's Tooth [3]
Location: DS13 - all areas
Timeline: 2100 - MD08
"Now hear this. All DS13 inhabitants, now hear this." Rovak's voice echoed across the station's hundreds of rooms and thousands of hallways, corridors and other empty spaces simultaneously.
"This is Captain Rovak. Earlier this evening the station was taken over by an armed faction among our Atenist guests. Subcommander Saa's surrender ensured there was no loss of friendly life during the counter-insurgency, and I thank you all for your cooperation and restraint. The danger has now passed. We are regaining control of computer systems gradually, and you have no doubt noticed that many basic functions have returned, though audio communications are still limited to the shipwide system I am currently speaking to you through."
"You may have noticed the ring structure and phenomenon out the window earlier, and the arrival of a ship, the USS Bra'tac. It is the vessel of an interplanetary alliance comparable to our Federation within the Atenist home universe. I am confident our shared values make them trustworthy visitors, and in any event, we are categorically at their mercy, though they have chosen to assist us. They have made accusations against the Atenist leaders and an extradition request that will be weighed by a special tribunal. You may see individuals in dark blue 'star force' uniforms around the station providing assistance, they are here to help at my request. As ever, if you become aware of anything unusual, do not hesitate to report it to station security."
"To those Jaffa listening, know that whatever the outcome, our offer of asylum will be honoured. Any who may wish to return to their home universe are also welcome to do so, however for any considering it, there will be only one trip back, and return or further trips will not be possible. We have not yet received a list of claims, but we understand that it will be fewer than a dozen individuals who will be the subject of extradition proceedings. For the meanwhile, the Goa'uld leaders will be held under guard. The tribunal will be held to the civil standard of proof, I will as presiding officer determine whether it is more likely than not that any accused have a case to answer for, and if extradition to their home universe is warranted."
"To our civilian population, I wish to thank you once again for your resilience and restraint. It is unfortunately the case that frontier living is often replete with surprises. It is my hope that we can soon put this unpleasantness behind us, and continue with our lives as before. While we may not be able to prioritise non-essential civilian systems for repair or maintenance for the immediate future, please do not hesitate to log any required work with Ops, I can assure you that time will eventually be found by Chief Gaz and his team for any works required."
"Further updates will be issued through all-points bulletins available at any computer access point. Feel free to submit any queries to station staff by electronic mail for manual response, and as ever do not hesitate to contact first responders in the event of an emergency."
"This broadcast ends."
