"You know me. Maybe you're a little starstruck. That's okay. I am Ori Enu'Tha, known to many as the Andorian Da Vinci. Yes, it's true, my great mental prowess and intellectual aptitude is the result of genetic tampering by a group now regarded as supremacist bioterrorists. But we all got here by a different path, mine just makes me one of the smartest men in the known universe. Unfortunately Lieutenant Atna here is a mere mortal, and her friend Dr T'Zor seems to be from a universe where they never had to get particularly good at science." Ori said to the gathered room, unprompted. As he finished speaking, he reclined in his seat.

"Thank you for sharing that. Why are you here?" Atna asked the interrupting Andorian. He was unfortunate looking, but in a way that evoked more contempt than pity. She suppressed both.

"Bad question. Already answered it. Starfleet wants someone who can think in 15 dimensions to take a look at your space hole and write a report. Your efforts are... just great, for a regional starbase science lieutenant, I'm sure. It'll make a great jumping off point." Ori said insincerely.

"I see. Will it require you to speak further?" Atna asked.

"If I have questions, yeah." Ori responded casually.

"Perhaps you could submit them in writing?" Atna suggested.

Ori laughed at that. "That's a good one, Lieutenant. Perhaps you aren't familiar with my work. I'm third chair of the Federation Science Council. My report goes straight to Janeway and the President."

Atna wasn't familiar with him until he explained it, but her expression and interest in him remained unchanged. She had a vague memory of an Andorian augment being appointed. "We will cooperate with your needs wherever possible, however as a civilian aboard our station I will require you to observe Starfleet decorum. That means allowing us to go ahead with our meeting without furthering your soliloquy."

"Oh, there's no need. I've brought the science department up to speed with all your work while we've been waiting. It's not like it takes a long time to get through. Some nice surface-level analyses, but I'd be expecting more insights after this time." Ori observed.

"Then you allowed this meeting to be called knowing it wasn't required?" Atna asked.

"I'm sure there's some boring things you can still discuss. Sensor alignments or whatever. Preferred bridge ping. Not my problem, I'm done here. Expect me." Ori said, bringing his seat back up, then standing and moving towards the exit with a strange haste.

"The Challenger's crew certainly seem to live up to its name." Atna observed to the Challenger's science chief.

"He is not part of our crew." Commander Miadri emphasised.

"Your loss, I'm sure." Atna said. "Are you satisfied for us to provide our adjusted equipment and sensor settings, or do you wish to prolong this indignity?"

"No ma'am." The Deltan said, standing suddenly and leaving, his entire department following with him.

"So, I take it we're no longer needed?" The hologram Doc asked, having come to represent Medical, who had almost nothing new to report to the Challenger crew, other than a few details about Asari physiology.

"No. Thank you all for your attendance, dismissed." Atna told the assembled science staff.
