Mission: Shifting Shapes [4-5]
Location: C-Dock, Pier 3
Timeline: MD01 - 1000

In a rare break from DS13 tradition, the arrival of the Ferengi embassy had been well signposted and was proceeding as planned, they'd made their scheduled check-in from nearby N'Taan, and were due to arrive in less than 30 minutes. Ferengi transports had been back and forth for the last three weeks, dropping off enough equipment to fit out a capital ship. The Embassy the Ferengi Alliance had requested was spread out over three decks, down from their proposed five.

The senior staff had all been requested to attend in dress uniform by Ambassador Velt, who made it sound more mandatory than it necessarily was.

Rovak and Velt arrived first with Ayol. The Ambassador fidgeted at his dress collar.

Commander T'Zor arrived alongside others, she hadn't had many opportunities to wear her dress uniform, she was making surreptitious glances at the others to make sure she'd got all the details right.

Alex was right beside T'Zor, feeling particularly out of place in the formal attire.

Saez and Yy also arrived with the group, each hoping to have this out of the way as soon as possible.

In the Starfleet dress uniform, and slightly modified to have a longer skirt part, Rune stood in a gap between the others present. He put his hands behind his back. “Well get ready for more excitement here,” he spoke with sarcasm.

"Hey, speak for yourself Lieutenant. For some of us this a first Ferengi encounter in the wild." T'Zor said with competitive jest.

The Marauder Usurious dropped out of warp at approximately 1013, and was docked two minutes later. Down the walkway the party was led by the Ambassador, a squat and stout woman with a cackling laugh that carried down the dock preceding her.

She was accompanied by a somewhat motley group of Ferengi, the man immediately to her right was what generally came to mind when one thought of their kind. To her left was a taller more uncertain looking Ferengi who seemed to be forcing a smile. Behind them came one of the taller and broader Ferengi any of them had ever seen, and most unusually, he had a beard, as well as a number of distinguishing scars, tattoos and piercings. His collar said that he held the rank of Taan in the Alliance merchant fleet. Next to the Taan came an even higher ranking figure, a more average sized Ferengi. His collar and his uniform told all he was a Daimon, the Usurious' commander.

Before Velt could get a word in, Ambassador Slake cut in with her piercing voice. "Well well well, Oriath Velt, you old tomcat. You've come to kiss my hand, what a luxury." She said to Velt, holding her hand out to him.

He kissed it after a moment's hestitation, but before he could say anything further she was speaking again, eyes locked on Rovak.

"And my my, if I'd known Vulcans could be this scrumptious I'd have asked to be posted on their homeworld a long time ago." She said of Rovak.

"Ambassador." Rovak said simply, finding it agreeable that he did not experience embarrassment.

"Oh, and these are my people. Daimon Grubb who was kind of enough to bring me here on a flat fee, Taan Thwak who will be serving as my Chief of Security, and Glup and Berq, my aides. There are others of course, but who can be bothered with so many names that may not be here in a week?" Slake said with a laugh, moving down the line to Flynn.

She seemed to offer a combined superficial greeting down the line to Flynn, T'Zor, Yy and Iyel of "Ladies, so wonderful to see women taking charge. Remember, Tuesday is lady's night at the Embassy main bar." She didn't really seem to focus on any of them as she spoke.

Intharia smiled without saying anything, everything she'd heard and read about Ferengi had forewarned her that they were a chauvinistic and self-interested people, she was glad to see at least that their females had earned the cultural clout to behave in the same way in the brief few decades since gaining equal rights.

Yy also inclined her head politely but didn't say anything further. She could feel that her impressions of this Ambassador were the same as everyone else's.

"This must be your navigator. I have a great deal of time for a man with nimble fingers, who knows his way around." Ambassador Slake said with a toothy grin as she passed Commander Saez.

"Ma'am." Saez responded with a nod, his face straining to remain composed and professional.

"Mm. A Betazoid. You must be the chief of security. A little past his prime, but excellent foundations. I hope you handle the frisking personally, Lieutenant." Slake told Thul.

“Welcome aboard, Ambassador. I am Chief of Station Security.” Rune bowed his head slightly. “If you have need of us please have your Chief of Security contact us.”

"Of course, of course." Slake responded, though her interest was gone as soon as his professionalism emerged.

"And you, you Lieutenant are limber. I can tell from here. But I'd like to find out just how limber." The Ferengi Ambassador told Lieutenant Zuul.

“Chief Tactical Officer, Lieutenant Akaar Zuul, welcome aboard Ambassador.” Akaar sweetly smiled as he too bowed his head.

"And Master Chief," Slake said moving to Gaz, "What strong hands you have. I'll bet they give fantastic oo-mox." She said suggestively.

Gaz recoiled with a look of disgust. He made no attempt to hide it. "I doubt it, madame ambassador." He said.

She smiled at that, it seemed playing hard to get pleased her. "How wonderful to see the next generation of female leaders coming to the fore. Well done, ladies." Slake told Mana'i and Bellis at the end of the line, again not really seeming to connect with them in any meaningful way, almost as though she was looking past rather than at them as she moved.

Mana'i blinked as the Ferengi walked past her. Clearly not everyone on this station was entirely keen on interaction in the manner she was used to.

Ferengi had always meant bad things to Bellis. This one was same even if she was a woman. She said not very friendly "Hello Ambassador."

"Now," Slake said, turning back to Velt without responding to Bellis. "I've been at warp for two weeks, I need to be pampered. My staff will handle the embassy, I need males. Muscular, glistening, gyrating males, as close to my face as your Federation laws allow. And not another Ferengi in sight." The Ambassador announced.

"I'm sure there's great fun to be had Ambassador, but I'm afraid that's not my area of expertise." Velt said with a slightly bashful tone, looking to Commander Flynn, hoping she might take over.

Alex initially had a wide-eyed deer in the headlights look that changed into a furrowed slightly offended brow of 'really?' But she stepped forward anyway. "Yeah, I'll show you the sights. We'll start with the ring of honour, They should hit two out of three of your criteria, Madame Ambassador."

"I'd love to assist too." Commander T'Zor said. "I need some more masculine energy in my life." She didn't want to leave Alex on her own, and it wasn't as though she had anything pressing to do, other than to keep an eye on that one totem that had been doing something funny. Besides, she wasn't so inured to material pleasures as her Federation friends, she knew the advantages of wealthy friends.

"Exquisite." Slake said simply, turning back towards the exit, ready to be guided by the women whose names she had already forgotten.

As Flynn and T'Zor agreed to take the new Ambassador out on the town, another quartet of arrivals appeared, flanked by their own entourages, who walked unhappily but professionally together. Creon, Kloh'theQ, Mataan and Abassys reached the observation area at Pier 3, Ambassador Velt moved out to greet them.

"Ah, how perfect. Ambassador Slake, these are your counterparts. Ambassador Creon of the Romulan Free State, Dowager General Kloh'theQ of the Klingon Empire, Ambassador Mataan of the Cardassian Union, and Envoy Abassys of the Reman Imperium." Velt said, hoping to mediate the encounter to avoid something as prurient as the last set of introductions.

"Ambassador Slake. On behalf of the Romulan Free State, welcome. I look forward to working towards greater providence for both our peoples." Ambassador Creon told the Ferengi woman, whose attire she found a little excessively bright, but still tasteful.

"So too does the Klingon Empire offer its hopes of honourable cooperation." The Dowager General told the Ferengi. She could count on one hand the number of female Ferengi she'd seen with her own eyes. From the discomfited looks of the men of the station crew, she assumed this one was formidable.

"Wonderful, wonderful." Slake said, smiling and nodding at the women, though her attention was obviously drawn elsewhere.

"My dear Envoy," she said, approaching the Reman, "It has been some time since I laid eyes on one of the sons of Remus. Things have improved dramatically. If you're all like this, send me to the mines." Slake told him with an amorous pur.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Madame Ambassador." Abassys responded with a polite bow. "My people have come a long way to undo the genetic vandalism done to us by the Romulan slavemasters. Our best minds say we could be as we once were within two generations."

"Indeed! Fascinating, tell me more." She took the man's arm and led him towards the exit.

Ambassador Mataan could see the Ferengi Ambassador's priorities and was unimpressed, which she let show. There was no need to say anything in her judgement, being here was enough, and Slake would probably forget as soon as she was out of sight.

Rune watched as the women with the Alliance Ambassador left and turned to those remaining. "Duty permitting, I'm happy to buy a round of drinks of your choice at 'The Spot' for you all?" He glanced between each officer.

T'Zor made a look of 'how about it?' To Flynn.

"We'll keep it in mind, Lieutenant. I think Freddie's might be our first stop, he's got a setup the Ambassador will like. I think it might get a little blue." Flynn said, grateful for the offer, but not wanting to expose the Spot's clientele to what she was expecting. Freddie's on the other hand got a little more risque. Flynn led the party onwards.
